About Bristol Women’s Workshop

Our mission

At Bristol Women’s Workshop, our charity’s mission is to empower women by teaching them hands-on woodworking skills in a fun and supportive environment. We're here to break the mould and give women confidence and creativity in a traditionally male-dominated craft.

What we offer

Get ready to dive into the world of woodworking. In our workshops, you’ll learn to use all the major hand tools you need to create amazing projects with traditional joinery methods. Forget the noisy machines—we focus on hand tools to help you understand your materials and develop precise, skillful techniques. You’ll learn to saw accurately, plane surfaces flat, and chisel with precision, becoming a skilled woodworker not limited by machine constraints.

Our classes

We keep our class sizes small, with a maximum of 8 participants. This means you get lots of one-on-one time with our friendly, experienced instructors. You’ll get all the support you need to learn safely and effectively.

Why hand tools?

We believe that mastering hand tools is the best way to become a true woodworker. Without the constraints of machines, you’ll gain a deeper appreciation for your craft. Plus, there’s something incredibly satisfying about creating something beautiful with just your hands and a few simple tools. It’s all about connecting with the process and enjoying every step of the journey.
